6/04/2016    Photo a Day   A Building

The Bathurst Courthouse is one of Australia's best examples of Victorian era public architecture.

This magnificent building was opened 16 July 1880, and is situated in the heart of the city. It is listed by the National Trust and was designed by James Barnet .

The courthouse is the regular venue for sittings of the court of petty sessions, district and supreme courts.

The east wing now houses the Bathurst and District Historical Society Museum, while the west wing is occupied by the Mitchell Conservatorium Incorporated.

27/03/2016   Photo a Day   Flying

This little beetle is smaller than 1 cm and they are flying around my house inside and out. It is the Elm Tree Beetle which has infested all the Elm Trees in Bathurst . I do not have an Elm Tree but my next door neighbour does and there are two others in my small street. They only eat the leaves of the Elm trees and sceletonize the leaves thus making the trees vulnerable to disease such as Dutch Elm Tree disease.
