My father

 

 It is 101 years ago my father was born in New Zealand to an Australian father and an English mother, the family returned to Australia when dad was about 10 and he completed school as Dux of North Sydney Boys High School.

He then joined the army but injured at Tobruk and discharged in 1942, this photo was taken in Townsville the last time I saw him in 1996 and he died in 2000.

 This is a copy of a birth certificate  , this male baby apparently died aged about 3 to 6 months but there is no record of his death.My mother's cousin worked in Birth,deaths and marriages and could not find any record of his death but then this was in an isolated area miles north of Perth or any other bigger town.

The Parents then came back to Victoria and went on to have 7 daughters my Grandmother being the second eldest.

  This clock is made from Bakelite the first ever plastic invented in the early 20th century. this clock was a gift from my father to my mother to celebrate my birth so we are the same age, fortunately I still work (a lot slower than I used to !) but this clock doesn't work anymore and would cost too much to fix according to one expert so it is just an ornament now

  Monday is Patchwork Day and all or some of these friends come to my place to sew/talk sewing drink tea nad coffee and have lunch. Sometimes they all come and other days there is just two of us.

  I made this quilt for a soon to be born baby about 17 years ago , I have known his mother Jane all her life as her parents were friends , Helen  (Jane's mother ) and I nursed together in the sixties and worked together until the late seventies, we were the same age but Helen died from cancer in her fifties and I really made the quilt in her memory.

Where have I been

 I'm afraid the Blog was ignored last week because I had visitors and lots of sewing jobs to complete , the week started last Sunday with a video call to Zoe for her birthday and all she wanted to talk to was Molly who obediently sat on my lap for ten minutes until she got bored looking at her Zoe's birthday presents.

Miss Zoe says where's Molly Grandma , she's gone outside I tell her., Zoe immediately turns to Tim nad says Molly has gone outside to wee Daddy, Grandma I can wee in the potty now!

They had a family morning tea for her birthday party and Trish went over to Marrickville the first time in ages because she's been so sick with the Flu.

Tom and Jayne wanted a bigger quilt for their bed in the caravan , luckily I had a Bonnie Hunter Mystery quilt top which Belinda Betts quilted for me and here it is in situ...

  I have also just finished a wall hanging for Steven and I have posted it to him and he's very happy with it I used a small quilt I had made as the backing.

It is for the animals that were in the wars that Australia has been in Horses, donkeys, camels , pigeons and dogs the purple poppies are for the animals that didn't make it and Steven knew a few from Afghanistan
