A friend gave me this variegated Daphne when my mother died in 2001, Don Burke used to say they are one of the hardest things to grow but this one thrives on neglect although it is a bit scrawny.

AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL ANTHEM

Australians all let us rejoice,
For we are young and free;
We’ve golden soil and wealth for toil;
Our home is girt by sea;
Our land abounds in nature’s gifts
Of beauty rich and rare;
In history’s page, let every stage
Advance Australia Fair.

In joyful strains then let us sing,
Advance Australia Fair.
Beneath our radiant Southern Cross
We’ll toil with hearts and hands;
To make this Commonwealth of ours
Renowned of all the lands;
For those who’ve come across the seas
We’ve boundless plains to share;
With courage let us all combine
To Advance Australia Fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing,
Advance Australia Fair.

Yesterday my Monday patchwork group of ladies gathered for lunch at Bishop's Court here  in Bathurst we were thoroughly spoiled and had a beautiful meal cooked by Christine le Fevre in her charming B & B

If ever you want to have a weekend away and be served with gourmet meals by the Chef I can recommend it.In her kitchen (which I would love to have ) on the bench was the biggest dish of quinces and she was going to poach them for her guest's breakfast this morning,.

7/08/14   Photo a Day   Spot

This spot is where I went to Primary School in the 1950's , they were very happy days and I had lots of friends.Unfortunately when my parents went their separate ways and we moved to Griffith I lost touch with them but they are often in my thoughts.
Back in the 1950's boys and girls were segregated after Infants and there was different school buildings and playgrounds, I am not sure what the reasoning was behind this.

6/08/14  Photo a Day   Grateful for

I am grateful that Millie is once again healthy and back to her normal self.After a dash to the Vet's on Monday and a couple of injections she is now acting and I presume feeling better. Would you believe she had tonsillitis and Dr Tom said she was his  fourth canine patient with that in a week.
