12/04/2016   Photo a Day   Hole

This is a big hole near Ypres Belgium created by a huge bomb underneath German forces in World War 1.The blast was so big it was even felt in London and was the turning point in the western front campaign. The Bomb was placed underground after much work carried out by Australian Miners.
There was a book and a movie about this called Beneath Hill 60. I visited this area in 2006 because my Grandfather fought and was injured near Ypres.
